Discovering the Best Guitar Courses On The Internet

31st August

Learning to play guitar is a enjoyable hobby that anybody can get into.  It is a great way to entertain your family and friends, and you will enjoy learning how to play.  Deciding how to teach yourself the guitar is the first thing you will need to think about.  Classes at a school might be the easiest way to learn, but not everyone can afford to pay for expensive guitar lessons.  Getting a family member or friend might be another option, but not everyone has access to guitar playing expert.  Luckily, there are several affordable guitar courses online that can turn you into a guitar playing pro by putting in some effort.

Studies suggests that people learn things in several different ways, and guitar learning is no different.  Some people can learn to play just from reading a book.  Others are visual learners and need to see how things work before they can do it themselves.  That is what makes video instruction so powerful.  So to determine the best guitar courses for you, you need to understand what style of learning suits you the best.

Now that you have determined the type of course best suited for you, you can see what guitar courses other people recommend.  Probably the best sites to visit are guitar playing forums.  Just make sure the forum is well established and active.  Do a search, and find out if any online guitar courses have been talked about in any old threads.  If so, read through the messages carefully and figure out if the guitar course seems to fit what you are looking for.  If you have any questions, make a reply to the thread or start your own topic and ask.

An alternative way to pick good guitar courses is to search for them in a search engine.  You will find several reviews in the results, but make sure the reviews you read are legitimate.  Many sites publish fake reviews so you need to be careful of these.  When you read a review, see if you can determine if the person has actually purchased and tried the product themselves.

Once you have decided upon a guitar course to buy, test it out right away.  Many courses offer a money back guarantee, so make sure the course is right for you.  If not, just get a refund and try another one.  You will find that there are lots of good guitar courses available, so choosing the best one is worth the time to do.

How Can We Work With Music Agencies?

30th August

music industry marketing

how can i work with music agents?

Many artists want to know if they will be able to connect with music agencies if they don’t live in a traditional “music” town.

At first, there were the major music cities and if you wanted to meet people, you’d have to be from New York, Nashville, Los Angeles, Memphis, Miami, Nashville, London etc..

Then, cities evolved that began to produce incredible music and were subsequently lauded much importance:

Glasgow, Austin, Iceland, Nebraska, Paris, Seattle, Toronto, Berlin, Cologne etc….

Living far away from any of the cities above, it’s definitely harder to reach out to music agencies, and it makes the network much harder to tap into in general.

An incredible advantage that we now have is that the internet is so available to us all.

Even without the internet, the good news is that it’s not as bad as it used to be.

Imagine being in a tiny town, far from anywhere.

if you just play in your area and you can get an online profile setup. People will talk about you if you are playing amazing shows no matter how small.

Its a huge deal that we can now use the internet to allow our music to be found by millions of people.

If there’s a local fan base for you to tap into – go for it.

its about marketing your talent and skill to as many people as you can.

Once you have this local scene locked down, you are then in a position to reach out to your nearest larger town – this doesn’t guarantee you will get on the radar of a music agency, but may help to get you closer because if you build a fan-base, they will eventually hear about you.

But wait!building a regular audience and playing to them is not neessary.i worked with a band who had music agencies vying for their attention.

They were making songs at home in their bedroom and sent one to their favorite blog.the blog enabled a record executive to find the track and he signed it soon after.the industry began to chase them and they ultimately ended up working with a fantastic agent who got them shows and a big record deal.

There are so many examples where bands that were far from the music epicenters were able to do really well.

As far as I can tell, Las Vegas is not a “music town”, and Brandon Flowers from The Killers even left his original band because they wanted to move to Los Angeles (a “music town”).

Leaving his former band,Flowers was then able to focus on a new act with Dave Keuning resulting in The Killers – all while based in Las Vegas.

Some people assume that music agencies will only work with larger established acts, and thats simply not true.

Starting off, many agents work very closely with the band.

you have a map to follow.

When they believe in what you are doing, they will stick their neck out for you and pull favors etc in the hope for your loyalty when you blow up.

Giving upcoming bands the platform to start from, and

putting on the initial smaller shows, the music agencies dont make any money, but they get the profile and satisfaction of having found an artist and nurtured it.

Dont be afraid to begin dialogue with music agencies, they want you to be just as successful as you want to be.

Get them to approach you instead of you approaching them by focusing on generating interest and curiosity.

Why not put down the guitar control and pick up the real thing?

29th August

If it is rock music you are interested in and have never played a instrument or Rock Band then it is safe to say it is worth giving it a go. Although Rock Band cannot be compared to a real instrument it is a great way to have a laugh with a few friends. In all honesty that is the entire point of the game, to have a laugh,.

Although it is certainly possible to play it by yourself without getting bored at all it is a lot better if you are playing with a few friends. Another benefit to the game is you can choose your would be favourite instrument whether that is guitar, drums, bass as well as one of those fancy microphones being thrown in too. Of course there is also the benefit that the game can be played online with friends or if they are not online can be played with anyone in the world which is is great if you feel like rocking out at 3 in the morning.

Of course it is all fun and games but it is true that you should never rule out playing a real instrument as it is a great hobby to get into. Although it really is not easy, quick and is almost certainly going to take lot of patience and training the outcome will be much better than bashing out a couple of songs on game. If its singing you are into then an AKG microphone or even a Akai drum sequencer could be what you are after.

It is also good to note that you are never too old to actually learn how to play. Of course Rock Band cannot be compared to the real thing and the company have never said it is anything like it, they just want everyone to have the chance to hammer out their favourite rock songs which of course is certainly nothing to moan about. Next time you’re playing Rock Band, Guitar Hero or any other of the music games have a long hard think and consider actually learning to play one of the real things.

Learn To Play The Violin

28th August

If you are thinking about how to learn to play the violin then taking time to look at the online approach should be one route you follow.

There are a lot of incredible benefits to this option. Just a few would be…..

  • Price – incredibly low
  • Opportunity – learn from a world renowned master
  • Variation – videos, books, jam tracks and 24 hour support

But the most important aspect of learning to play the violin has got be how often and how good your parctice routine is. The more you practice and the better you practice then the greater your improvements will be.

If you don’t practice you will not progress, even if you are learning from Paganini himself. But, develop a strong work ethic and your progress should remain consistant and rapid.

  1. Aim to practice on a daily basis.
  2. Little and often is always better than rare, marathon runs!
  3. Set immovable times that are allocated to practice.
  4. Divide your practice time up into sections like: warm up, scales, pieces, exercises and finish with improvisation for example. This helps to keep you focused and interested.
  5. Set some goals. This could be to learn music x by date x.

Many people find learning an instrument to often be a very lonely task. So perhaps as you learn to play the violin get together with other violinists or musicians to play, talk, swap techniques and music. Interaction with other players can help you progress very quickly, plus above all else it can be a lot of fun.

To some people, especially when first beginning to play, this can seem like a very intimidating thing to do. However I have always found musicians to be very patient and they love helping out the ‘newbie’. I think this is because all players were beginners once and they know exactly how it feels.

If you’re not ready for that step just yet, then again this is where the online approach is great.

The program Violin Master Pro allows you to play along with what are called ‘Jam Tracks’. They are musical pieces that play on your computer and allow you to play or ‘jam’ along in the comfort of your own home. Problem solved.

If you are serious and want to learn to play the violin, make sure you develop a good practice routine and be certain to take a look at the online option.

How To Get Music Agents

27th August

How To Get To The Music Agents

(step by step)

Starting out from scratch like i did, it wasn’t even on my mind that i could actually get a music agent.

We started out just jamming in a room, then slowly got more serious. When we could actually play a few of our own songs we then started looking to play live at venues around town.

Its the next logical step right?

Take it to the people!

Well, from having that idea to actually implementing it took ages.

First we had to find places to play, then we had to beg/plead/promise/bribe the “gatekeepers” to let us play at their venue.

It was a night mare!

Dragging all our equipment halfway across town, waiting around, and eventually getting to play to no one and not even getting paid – it was a depressing time…..

So how did we get music agents to want to work with us?

In short – we attracted them!

Now I know that sounds a bit “voodoo”, but i mean it in the most practical way – a step by step way…….

Heres how:

After playing many shows to no one, we actually got better at playing!

(For proof of this on a huge scale- checkout Malcolm Gladwells book Outliers, where he proposes that in order to become an expert at anything, you must do it for over 10,000 hours.

EG The Beatles played in a club in Hamburg for 8 hours per day for a very long time and hence became experts at their craft.)

Anyway, as we became better at playing, we began to attract a few followers.

People would come to the shows just not that many.

After about one and a half years of hard work, we had 20 people on average at our further away shows, and more at the easy to get to shows on weekends.

This was phase one, and because with this in place, we were able to attract the attention of a manager.

We had to work to keep his attention, but with his help and advice, we were able to refine our act and make some key distinctions.

With these distinctions, we were able to attract multiple agents.

So just to refine the process:

  1. We got better at what we were offering
  2. We attracted a small following
  3. Having this following and being better, helped attract
  4. the manager and more shows.
  5. Having a manager really assisted in getting music agents to shows.
  6. The increased following, being better and having a manager made the agents want to work with us!

Its common for most bands to first build a following and then get an agent.

There are some things that you need to do first in order for them to want to work with you.

Generally speaking, they don’t take unsolicited requests.

Its preferable for many of them to locate and unearth talent on their own.

In our case, the manager was the link to the agents.

We were recommended to them by him.

People came to see us thanks to his wide sphere of influence.

One thing that you can do right now is to do research.

Learn who all the key players in your market are – so that when you are ready to begin to get music agents interested in what you are doing, you can be really focused in who you really want and you will know what kind of acts they work with, and what they look for in an act.
