Hi,
i am a sophomore in high school and while im not entirely sure about what i want to do with my life, i love music and singing really is my life. i know that when it comes to schools for the performing arts, Juilliard is known as the best of the best. i was just wondering how it worked involving other classes at the school…what i mean is, can i go there and still study medicine or something?
i looked at the web site, but didn’t see much about that.
thanks for your help!!:)

also, how many years would you attend Juilliard(for vocal or theatre) ??
Juilliard is an arts only school. They don’t offer courses in other fields of study and are entirely focused on your artistic development.
That isn’t to say that you can’t study both music and medicine.
Barnard and Columbia both have programs with Julliard where you can split your time between the two universities. This would be great considering Barnard and especially Columbia are two of the best schools in the world.
Keep in mind that these are some of the most exclusive schools in the world, let alone the country. Juilliard is known for having one of the lowest acceptance rates of any American university.
As for how many years it would take, it depends on your prowess and preference. You can pursue a Bachelor’s degree in a four year program or you could go for a 3-year diploma which focuses entirely on performance. Either is a good choice for you I think.
Good luck

I play the piano for almost ten years and i am in the music for fifteen years but the problem is that when i was younger i hated music and that made me stop studying but one day i realised that i love music and i want to study in a very good university. But i haven't accepted in the Royal Academy of Music and in the Juilliard School too. I'm thinking of starting violin to be good in a musical instrument. What should i do? Should i focus again in music or think an other field of study and what? I am very shy but accurate.
I.If your energy is flowing towards the music, then forget all other education and sink in music . Do not think what will happen if I am totally involved in music. Just sink yourself in music and accept the hurdle of life .

Is Juilliard University only teaches music? I want to study art, you know like drawing, and painting. If it’s not what would be the best art school that you could really go to?
Julliard is an arts school, prolly the MOST prestigious in the country. It only offers dance, drama and music departments, so art isn’t going to be in Julliard. A good art school is Savannah College of Art and Design, but idk if u live near lol

I'm looking for some perspectives, from current or former students of Juilliard or MSM, about the atmosphere and overall school. I'm positive that both institutions would further enhance my vocal skills and benefit my future career, however, I've heard a lot about the supposed arrogant, narcissistic, snobby attitudes of Juilliard and seemingly pleasant atmosphere at MSM. I've been doing research on this issue, and have gotten some answers, but I'd like more. I'd like to know, what some of you students think. Any info, is greatly appreciated. thanks!
I study with a teacher at the Juilliard school and have learned that it's undergraduate program is an intense and sometimes harrowing experience. MSM is a more nurturing environment. Juilliard is well known among my colleagues as "the Jailyard". It is a wonderful school with fantastic instructors but not as relaxed and centered around the individuals natural development. A graduate student would find Juilliard more appealing, but the better choice in an undergrads case is MSM

Ok so I’m in high school at a Preforming Arts Magnet School and I’m wondering how hard it would be for me to get accepted to Juilliard? I don’t know much about it, but apparently Juilliard sends out people to schools like mine in search of applicants each year.
I am a singer in the Choir program and one out of ten accepted.
I understand how much effort I need to put into going to a college like this, but even now I am putting my heart and soul into my music in high school.
Also, how much is tuition per semester?
Thanks a lot:D
Rian.
You have to be among one of the best musical talents in the world to get into Julliard.
