Can I get into these certain colleges with my resume looking like this?
Hello! I am currently a senior in high school residing in southern California. I have finished my personal statements and essays for my college application, but I would like some feedback about my chances on getting into my dream schools: Vassar, Boston University, Emerson, NYU, and more. I am going to major in Acting/Theatre, and have my strength in that field, which would make me audition for that college of theatre in those universities.
Thank you if you could give me your thoughts!
Here is my unorganized resume:
- 3.97 unweighted GPA
- I still need to take my SAT or ACT
- Playing cello for 10 years; involved in the most rigorous school music classes since elementary school; performed at the Jazz Bakery in Los Angeles with SPLA (String Project Los Angeles)
- Won Most Valuable Player (MVP) Award in JV Tennis; I had to quit tennis because of constant injuries
- Won a national essay contest for students wanting to go to Korea for a cultural tour
- Volunteered at Salvation Army, Skid Row, and worked Friday nights by teaching art to five children at once; work with child with autism.
- Sunday School teacher for five years.
- Tutoring/housing a foreign student from South Korea.
- Won school scholarship for music performance
- Auditioned for a college play but could not participate in production because of school hours and rides.
- Involved in CSF (California Scholarship Federation), Key Club
- I will have taken seven AP courses by the end of this year.
- I will audition and take part in school plays since I started drama this year (I wasn’t allowed to take the class before)
- I was involved in the school paper as an editor
- I went to Stanford University during the summer for Journalism
- I finished Korean a year earlier than usual, and finished AP Calculus AB as a junior.
- I also moved away from my original public school to a small private one, but I moved back to my original public school. The tuition and education at the private one was a bit…
Thanks!
You should be a slam dunk for all of the schools listed.
