Wait! Couldn’t your friend teach you? People were giving him money, he must have been able to play.  Well, some people just can’t teach even if they know what they are doing.   He couldn’t help me.  He was not qualified to teach. But he did show me some chords.  What I ultimatly discovered as a result of this was that without disciplined, well thought-out lessons, it is simply IMPOSSIBLE to teach yourself how to play the guitar.    We’ve found the WORST WAY – Let’s see the BEST way!  Well, from my experience, the best way is through one-on-one, step-by-step lessons that are easy to follow and understand.  My friend did not have the patience to teach me in that way.  The truth is, not many instructors can.
